Package Design: Epson Ink Cartridges CMYK
For my Package Design course, I was tasked with creating a package for selling Epson Ink Cartridges. The requirements were that each packaged needed to highlight one of the four colors in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) and could use no other additional colors besides white. The packaging also needed to protect the ink cartridge inside, so I used foam and cut a spot for the cartridge and a thumb insert to easily pop it out.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create a hexagonal package design that includes a base and a lid. After many test prints and prototypes, I finally found the ideal dimensions for housing the cartridge.
I wanted to create a package system that coherently went together so you could tell the four colors came in a set, but could be sold separately. I decided to create an Epson character with different facial expressions for each color. I also included a scarf that has the logo on it & the barcode as the tassles. A nametag with the color type and a coat with a zipper are on the sides of the package.
